Health insurance coverage is a very heated discussion topic these days. Premiums are on the rise and with the current jobless rate there are many who can simply not afford heath insurance coverage, others are looking for cheaper alternative methods. There are many discount plans popping up these days and many are legitimate companies that offer minimal coverage but there are some that promise great coverage at drastically reduced rates, these have usually tuned out to be fraudulent.

One alternative that people have turned to these days are Christian ministry plans. These plans are where a group of people get together and agree to pay for everyone’s medical bills. There is usually a small monthly cost to cover administration costs but the actual medical bills are paid on the honor system. People relying on one of these Christian ministry plans should be aware first and foremost that these organizations are not health insurance coverage companies. There are no guarantees that a persons medical bills will be paid at all. In theory the system sounds great where we look out for our fellow man, but in reality there are just no guarantees these bills will be paid. There have been some Christian ministry plans that were frauds but to be fair there have been some health insurance coverage companies that have been frauds as well.

There have been quite a few alternative options that have surfaced recently and some are viable options for those who can not afford traditional health insurance but applicants should always scrutinize any alternative health insurance coverage option just to be on the safe side.
